IM Mastery Academy is an e learning platform that started with educating users on topics regarding stocks and day trading. Upon my arrival at the company I identified that users weren't passionate about learning how to trade per say, however they were interested in making extra money while at their primary job. The idea to expand the vertical and e learning services was identified and supported by leadership as long as the decision could be backed by research and a strong go-to-market strategy.

Challenge
Implementing a new vertical focused on teaching people how to trade (ECX) in our startup, which primarily offered educational courses and operated on an affiliate marketing-based approach, presented several challenges. One of the key challenges I faced was the need for expertise and resources. Developing a new vertical required deep subject matter expertise in e-commerce education. To address this, I recognized the importance of hiring or partnering with experienced store owners and educators who could contribute their knowledge and insights to the development of our ECX offerings. I dedicated significant time and resources to sourcing the right experts who could create high-quality content and deliver valuable training to our users.
Another challenge I encountered was pricing and affordability. My goal was to keep the ECX product affordable to align with the business goals and mission statement of the company, while maintaining a sustainable business model. Integrating the ECX vertical into our existing company posed organizational and operational challenges. I needed to ensure seamless integration of the new product within our platform, including website updates, user onboarding, and customer support. I created a dedicated team to manage the ECX vertical, consisting of product managers, customer success representatives, and technical support staff. This team worked closely with other departments to align our marketing and sales efforts, ensuring a cohesive and consistent experience for our customers.
Challenge
I conducted extensive market research and analyzed competitors' pricing models to strike the right balance. After careful consideration, I decided on a startup fee of $235 and a monthly fee of $150 for our subscription-based model. This pricing structure allowed me to cover our costs while providing accessible and affordable trading education to our target audience.
I recognized the importance of effective communication and marketing to drive awareness and adoption of the ECX vertical. I developed a comprehensive marketing strategy that included targeted digital advertising, content marketing, social media campaigns, and partnerships with relevant influencers and affiliates. By leveraging our existing affiliate network, I was able to expand our reach and attract a larger audience interested in trading education.
